Philip Sheffield, MD
Dr Sheffield retired in May 2018 after 4 decades of providing high quality Ear, Nose and Throat medical care to Athens and Northeast Georgia. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi in 1962, he earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee in 1965. After completing his internship in 1966, Dr. Sheffield joined the United States Air Force and was based in Japan for two years. When he returned to the United States in 1969, he began a one-year general surgery internship at Emory and Grady Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by a three-year residency in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery. Upon graduating from this residency program in 1973, Dr. Sheffield moved to Athens, Georgia and founded his own practice, ENT of Athens, which has grown successfully for over forty years.
